Personal, Social, Health, Economic & Citizenship Education (PSHE & C)
This is a really important aspect of our curriculum and, if done correctly, has a massive impact on all our children. There is no national curriculum for this area, but there is some guidance. from the Government. PSHE & C can encompass many areas of study and it is left to our school to decide what to focus on.
We have a specific programme called Second Steps, which all children are taught. The programme is an evidence-based social-emotional learning curriculum, which has helped to improve the lives of over 10 million U.S. students every year. Mr Brady piloted the programme when it first came to the UK over 10 years ago and we have used it ever since he became headteacher. It supports our children to be better equipped to manage their own emotions and build positive relationships... if we get that right then they’re better equipped to learn.
