  • Basic Skills Award Winners (3rd Time)

Thu 10 Jul 2014 Mr Brady

On Wednesday 9th July 2014, we were assessed for, and achieved, the Basic Skills Award (3rd time since 2008).

The award is very close to our hearts because the teaching & learning of basic skills (English, Maths & ICT) is at the core of our business.  The better your child's outcomes in these areas, the better their life chances!

I have attached our assessors award, which outlines improvements we could make and also a narrative of what the assessor found across school that supports the award.

A huge thanks go to our parents and children who were interviewed by the assessor.  The assessor was an experienced ex-headteacher, a school improvement officer and a current Ofsted inspector.

  • STRIKE DAY - Thurs 10th July 14

Sun 06 Jul 2014 Mr Brady

STRIKE ACTION, THURSDAY 10TH JULY 2014

As you will be aware from the media, the National Union of Teachers, Unison, GMB, PCS and Unite will be taking industrial action on the 10th July 2014.

The action (a one day strike) will result in class or whole school closures across the country.

The decision to close the school or send pupils home is never taken lightly, but in this instance, where some teachers, some teaching assistants, all midday assistants and all Metro Catering staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, I will have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all pupils.

We are aware that school closures inconvenience parents and carers and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the likely impact of the action on this school.

THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES ON THIS DAY.

School will be open, as usual, on Friday 11th July 2014 and all children will be expected to attend as normal.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Yours faithfully

    S.G. Brady

    Headteacher
